This video shows some of the difficulties the racers have to expect for the upcoming Dakar 2013 Rally. Video was hot during course scouting. We know from the past years with the loop races Argentina - Chile - Argentina and last years point-to-point race from Mar del Plata in Argentina to Lima in Peru how difficult some of the sections are, in particular in the Atacama Desert.

This 1987 Lamborghini LM002 (chassis HLA12046) competed in the 1996 Granada-Dakar Rally, and is said to have gone through 24 shock absorbers before it had to retire due to lack of spare parts.
