Juan Manuel Fangio powers his Maserati 250F into the North Turn during his epic drive in the 1957 German GP. This magnificent photo was taken by Jim Sitz, a 19 year-old Californian who had saved his money for two years after leaving high school in order to travel to Europe to see some races. He was granted a Photographer's Pass for the Grand Prix at the Nurburgring and took this photo...from the top of the Dunlop electronic scoreboard." Jim was to become a Contributing Editor to ROAD & TRACK and VINTAGE MOTORSPORT magazines.

What a wonderful photo. It gives such a real impression of so many things in that period. The loneliness of the long distance driver, condition of the track compared to today's tracks, no spectators, minimal ads, scenic view around the track. That area today is likely full of condos!
