I'm not usually one for supercars, but this McLaren P1 is going to be a hybrid. An electric motor will grant you an additional 176 hp instantly and help decrease shift times by quickly dropping engine speed when downshifting.

Cool.

I, for one, am excited to see new technology of any kind embraced, especially in the world of supercars. Often manufacturers shy away from serious evolution for fear of customers thinking the car will have no "soul."

Interesting concept, but nothing ground breaking. Porsche has actually been utilizing the hybrid technology in their track cars for years now. From what I've seen they've opted for the use of fly wheels opposed to battery packs, but the idea is the same, store up that extra juice for when you need a sudden blast of extra power to make that yellow light!

"an electric motor will grant you an additional 176 hp instantly" That's about 1.5x a Prius's total HP... Taking the concept of "hybrid" to a whole different level

Why would you ever need 176 hp of ADDITIONAL horsepower? This just seems excessive to me
