1928, Mercedes-Benz The "Woman in Red," by commercial artists Cucuel and Offelsmeyer, is one of the most striking advertising motifs of the Twenties. The women racing drivers of the "Roaring Twenties" were first-class. The Mercedes-Benz S model illustrated here, a development of the K (for "kurz" = short) sports version of the 630, was driven for example by Ernes Merck, wife of the pharmaceuticals manufacturer Wilhelm Merck. In the Klausen Pass Race of 1927 she was bested only by Rudolf Caracciola.
