Reckless Driver Pleads Guilty in 2012 Lamborghini Joyride Case.

In November 2011, Minneapolis lawyer Judson Champlin dropped off his prized 2007 Lamborghini Gallardo for six months of storage. He expected that the $200,000, V10 supercar would be cared for and babied. But what really happened was another matter entirely. In an exotic car owners worst nightmare, the man who was storing the car took it out for a joyride and crashed it several times, resulting in more than $80,000 in damage.

According to the Duluth News Tribune, the man who crashed the car is David Juntunen. He is the owner of Top Gear Autoworks, which services and stores supercars. One night in March of 2012, David, who apparently calls himself “Superdave,” crashed the Gallardo several times. He then tried to claim that the other person in the car was the one driving, and as a result has plead guilty to insurance fraud and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.

The night of the crash, apparently “Superdave” had one of his company’s tow trucks pick up the Lambo and bring it back to his shop. He never filed a crash report. “Superdave” is not so super – he has a lengthy criminal record, and has been charged with 59 crimes in 30 court cases before this one. Sentencing is set for December 11, 2013.
