There's certainly a beauty contest element but therein the essence of cars as art and the movers and shakers that help support the huge costs for putting on events such as Pebble and Amelia. It really comes down to preserving automotive history and perpetuating its heritage through education and public awareness. In my view this idiot totally misses the point.

He does make one valid point at least... "The problem is that especially at an event like the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, the vast majority of the people aren’t there to see the cars. They’re there to be seen by the people who see the cars."

This guy makes no mention of his own cars so I suspect jealousy looms large in the hobgoblin of his little mind.
