A Friday Night Fill Up Somewhere in Missouri: Another work week has come to an end, so it’s time to gas up the car for a big night out. And what better way was there to go to the drive-in or the dance in the late 1950′s than in a slick 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air? Before you go out for the evening, stop by The Old Motor and see this photo and 100s more from the Joe Sonderman Route 66 collection @ http://theoldmotor.com/?p=108703

Mr. Ueber’s Excellent Emporium of Gasoline and Beer: Surely one of the most elaborate examples of signage we’ve ever seen, Mr. Euber’s ornate mural borders on being folk art. The placard out front advertising five cent beer offers the promise of affordable solace to the poor motorist whose car had just been brought in on the hook. Ed Cheatham’s Oklahoma City, Anderson-Prichard Filling Station: What a cool photo from the Donald Ellis collection that he is kindly sharing with of us. Donald has a good eye for great photos and this one exceptional. He lived in this area for years and has this to say about this monumental filling station: This picture is of an Anderson-Pritchard Station at 13th and Hudson in OKC.
