“This isn’t pure nostalgia, it’s not as if I want to get back to 1955, I just think there’s something—there’s an analogue world that’s coming to an end,” says Jeff Martin. “Everything’s sort of automatic, and you push a button and download an app, and…there’s nothing like that going on with the Alfa.”

For sale in our Orlando showroom is this rare 1991 Buick Reatta Convertible. The Reatta was a limited production luxury sports car, carefully hand-crafted by Buick Division of GM at the Reatta Craft center in Lansing Michigan, introduced in 1988, ending production for Reattas in 1991. The 1991 convertibles are extremely rare with only 305 Reatta convertibles reportedly produced. New research has shown that only 153 were offered to the public for sale and 46 more to GM Execs. The remainders were unfinished or unsaleable and offered to Tech schools or destroyed which makes this one even rarer. The 4-speed electronic automatic transmission with overdrive goes right along with the 3.8L V6 TPI OHV 12V with tuned fuel injection. Additional features include: dual 6-way power leather seats, power windows, power locks, AM/FM stereo/cassette player with graphic equalizer, 6-speaker concert sound II, driver’s air bag, cruise control, leather wrapped title steering wheel, electronic climate control, including a/c and a fully digital panel. Electric dual remote mirrors with heated driver mirror. Electronic trunk release, grand touring independent 4-wheeled suspension with McPherson struts front and transflex leaf spring rear. 16 inch wheels. Bosch 4-wheel power disc brakes, ABS, Quick-ratio rack and pinion steering, retractable tungsten halogen headlamps, automatic daytime running lights with twilight sentinel. Remote keyless entry, with pass-key theft, power release hard Tonneau cover with heated/tinted rear glass window defogger, and a power pull down for the convertible top rear bow. This is one beauty that will turn heads. For more information on this vehicle visit http://www.gatewayclassiccars.com/orlando/1991/buick/reatta-S493.html

1953 AC Buckland for sale at Hyman Ltd.
AC Cars, which eventually built the chassis and body for the Shelby Cobra, was started in the dawn of the automobile era as a builder of three-wheel delivery vehicles under the name "Autocarrier". The company's first venture into passenger vehicles were two-seat trikes like the Sociable with the tiller-steering driver and a passenger sitting between the front wheels ahead of a one-cylinder air cooled engine and single chain-driven rear wheel. In 1922 AC debuted its own inline 6-cylinder single overhead camshaft engine, the engine, much developed, that powers this 1953 AC 4-seat tourer with coachwork by Buckland. The triple SU carburetor 1,991cc AC six delivered 76 horsepower through a 4-speed gearbox with synchromesh on the upper three gears. Significantly, this is a lefthand drive example, finished in Ivory with red upholstery that has been replaced on the front seats but remains original in the rear. Red centerlock wire wheels, a four-spoke banjo steering wheel, folding windshield and driving lights attest to its sporting character, as does the long, low 4-seat coachwork with integrated fenders by Buckland. It has its original side curtains and top frame. Never restored, this 1953 AC Buckland 4-seat tourer has been consistently maintained and is in good running and driving condition, a rare and distinctive example of early postwar British design that is the direct predecessor to the AC Ace and Shelby Cobra. Its cosmetics are sound. Drive it for a few years, then begin a show-winning restoration.

What’s the difference between a 1961 Jaguar E-type 3.8 Series 1 ‘Flat Floor’ Roadster and a 1961 Jaguar E-type 3.8 Series 1 ‘Flat Floor’ Roadster? The correct answer: circa 150.000 pounds or, in euros, 177.000.

At the recent Goodwood Revival, Bonhams sold both cars, both dating from the first year of E-type production (the ‘flat floors’ – in 1962 heel wells were built in). One would think the red one is the more valuable car. Not really. In spite of it having been fully restored, including an engine rebuild and with all the documentation and bills still present. It made a good price though: 74.000 pounds (87.000 euros).

The blue one, on the other hand, has had its engine replaced, since the original block cracked during the severe winter of 1963/64. That was just after the Jaguar was sold to the family in whose ownership it would stay for 50 years! Between 1980 and 2004 the car was in storage. Then a Jaguar interior specialist, who had worked at Jaguar for 20 years, discovered that this specific car was one of circa 60 demos for dealer’s use, all of which had hand-made interior panels. So we’ll leave it up to you to judge if the world record price of 225.000 pounds that Bonhams fetched for this E-type at Goodwood is justifiable.

Fabulous video about Porsche's storied racing heritage featuring my good friend and Amelia Concours founder, Bill Warner. Watch and enjoy!

"Brumos Porsche announced the creation of a new outlet for Porsche online enthusiasts with the introduction of the storied Jacksonville-based Porsche dealership's own YouTube channel and homepage feature known as Brumos Porsche TV. "Brumos has a rich history and heritage both in the showroom and on the race track. We wanted to share this experience with our friends and fans in a format that's convenient for them," said Brumos Racing icon and Executive Vice President, Hurley Haywood. And today, that means a strong presence online -- YouTube, Twitter and Facebook.

To accomplish the objective of offering internet users the "backstage pass" into the world of Brumos, the company launched an all-new YouTube channel Monday, July 8th with a special film by automotive storyteller Frazer Spowart. This film short features a January 2013 visit to Brumos' Jacksonville showroom by Porsche Racing Legend, Vic Elford. The film includes Haywood and is hosted by Founder & Chairman of The Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance, Bill Warner.

"If you are a Porsche fan, you'll want to be sure to subscribe to our new YouTube channel," continued Haywood. "We'll be adding more original content in the days and months ahead as well as sharing some of our favorite films. It will be the next best thing to getting behind the wheel of your Porsche."

Just in, this 1963 Series I, 3.8, fixed head coupe XKE which lived all it's life in southern California. The body is one of the nicest we've ever seen.
The car's original color was Signal Red with a black interior. The car is mostly complete. What appears to be missing are the tools, the air filter canister and a few minor items. All the gaps on the car show very well, and there is no indication that the car has been in an accident. The engine does not match the data plate, but it is a 3.8 liter E-type engine and very close to the number on the commission plate. The car steers and rolls nicely so can it be transported easily. The clear California title is in hand.

The Series 1 E-types are unencumbered by the aesthetic compromises that evolving safety standards forced onto later cars. This OTS (Open Two Seater) features a new canvas top and the optional matching hardtop with new headliner. Mangusta values have risen strongly in the past few years - more so across the pond than here.

One of the very first supercars, the Mangusta effectively established DeTomaso as a serious automobile manufacturer on its arrival in 1967. The Mangusta (mongoose) was powered by a mid-mounted 289-ci Ford V8 engine. Also used to power Ford’s GT40 Le Mans challenger, the iconic 289 produced 306 horsepower as installed in the Mangusta, which also used the GT40’s early-type ZF transaxle.

Later Mangusta production used the less-desirable Ford 302-ci engine, producing only 220 horsepower, together with a later ZF transmission. Carrozzeria Ghia’s Giorgetto Giugiaro contributed the striking gull-wing door coachwork, which had been intended for Giotto Bizzarrini.

With 300 or so horsepower on tap, the aerodynamic Mangusta was good for a top speed in the region of 155 mph. Disc brakes all around helped restrain this outstanding performance. Only 401 examples were made between 1967 and 1972, and any Mangusta is extremely rare; this example particularly so, given that it is one of the first made and therefore has the most sought-after specification.

Chassis number 8MA542 was built for the European market, for which 150 were made. It is a rare four-headlight model built prior to the standardization of two pop-up headlights for both the European and U.S. markets.

This car also retains its original air-conditioning system, which has been carefully rebuilt to be fully functional, and its European specification instruments. This car has recorded the exceptionally low figure of only 40,500 kilometers (approximately 25,000 miles) from new, and close inspection shows it to be exceptionally original.

SOLD!

This car, Lot 126, sold for $209,490, including buyer’s premium, at Bonhams’ Goodwood sale on September 15, 2012.

The Mangusta is one of those cars that have a reputation. It’s the kind of car you might like to take out for a long, hard ride on fast, empty roads, but afterward you wouldn’t want to take home to meet your parents. Seriously, as with other American-powered Italian sports cars, the products of DeTomaso, like those of Rivolta, didn’t get their due and were regarded as over-powered and half-baked, not suitable for connoisseurs of fine GTs.

Compared with DeTomaso’s first mid-engined offering, the Vallelunga, the Mangusta was far more developed, although the word “refined” might be a stretch. The Vallelunga’s “racer for the street” rawness was replaced with a well-trimmed leather cockpit, reasonably sorted and not too horribly non-ergonomic for the time.

Styled by Giorgetto Giugiaro for Ghia, the Mangusta’s shape is, for the character of the car, the most appropriate that could be imagined. If you picture in your mind’s eye a former U.S. Marine boxer who now works in security for an Italian prince, the Mangusta’s superb blend of raw, muscular strength and sleek Italian style is obvious. How else should a GT with the same powerful Ford V8 that powered the GT40 look when born in Turin?

A challenging drive

As with early 911s, the Mangusta is not impossible to drive but simply requires attention and commitment. The Mangusta doesn’t suffer fools gladly. That said, those limits are pretty hard to reach unless you’re really trying.

Mangusta International estimates that 250 of the 401 cars built still exist, a very high survival rate for a car so many claim to be both undriveable and horribly rust-prone. It proves, of course, that neither is actually the case.

Nice car plus receptive market equals big price

The catalog photos show a bit of waviness in the paint at some angles, although the panel fit looks quite good. It was reported to have covered a mere 100 miles since passing its MoT, or road safety test, and had recent receipts for maintenance work totaling £12,000 — more than $19,000. SCM’s man on the scene, Senior Auction Analyst Paul Hardiman, shared his notes on the Mangusta with me, reinforcing what I deduced from the catalog: “Very straight and tidy, couple of tiny chips in paint but they hardly show, motor tidy, clean and refinished, 40,527 km, leather and other trim hardly worn.” He rated it at a U.S. Condition 2, which in the U.K. translates as 2+.

I wrote a profile of a 1969 Mangusta in 2008 (SCM October 2008, p. 38), a car that sold for $99,241 on July 11, 2008, at Bonhams’ Goodwood Festival of Speed auction.

In the piece, I noted that “I would not expect them to continue to sell at the considerable discount to an Iso Grifo as is the case currently. In a short time, this sale may be considered quite the bargain.” A top-condition 1970 small-block Grifo would have cost about $195k then. Now, that Grifo has drifted down a bit to the $175k area. Note that the big-block cars are in another league altogether. It would seem that the much rarer Mangusta has found its place in the sun. Well, not quite.

In analyzing the price paid, an interesting pattern seems to emerge. There are some cars such as the Mercedes-Benz 300SL or Ferrari 250 GT SWB that have almost uniform worldwide appeal and sell for a global market price. Others, such as a Plymouth Hemi ’Cuda or a Gordon Keeble, would find a very thin market indeed outside of the U.S. and U.K. respectively.

Looking at Mangusta prices, it would seem that the Brits pay a considerable premium for them, which is not reflected in U.S. offerings. The July 2008 Bonhams Goodwood sale of a #2 condition car for $99,241 was at the same time that very good driver with some cosmetic needs was sold by a U.S. dealer for half that price.

Today, this $209k U.K. sale can be contrasted with the $93k that another U.S. dealer just received for a 1969 Mangusta with a nice older restoration. Incidentally, both our subject car and that U.S. sale were “four-headlight” early European cars, which have typically brought a premium over later “pop-up” two-light examples.

On either side of the ocean, it’s clear that Mangusta values have risen strongly in the past few years. I would not expect to see U.K.-level prices here for quite a while, and this result may see a run on Mangustas leaving us for greener pastures. For us in the Colonies, I would have to pronounce this as quite well sold.

For sale on eBay... 1955 Jaguar XK140. To be featured by Peter Ingram in the Market column of the next issue of the International XK Gazette as a previously unknown survivor.

With 42,075 miles showing on the odometer this one family owned car from new with its original delivery manuals and California black plates that still look pristine showing the last registration date of 1979 has got to be one of the most original examples to be offered for sale. Original paint in the jamb, engine bay and trunk area show a little more orange than the one re-spray of the out the outside body panels, The original interior with gas brake and pedal pads still intact showing the minimal wear, original carpet and notice the picture with the original reddish tonneau cover This car is a very detailed original fine example and would make a perfect J.C.N.A restoration project or is the ideal candidate for the person who would like an original car and would just freshen the mechanical systems and drive it with it current nostalgic patina look, as original cars seem to be the most sought after by collectors. Notice some of the smaller parts of the car all in their proper places such as the front license plate bracket, rear license panel top chrome molding, bottom of door curve wood inserts at opening rear of door, front door jamb weather stripping bottom drip metal. It seems like the parts are all in place some not seen on many cars. Doors are solid and do not sag and the gaps remain the best possible from factory delivery, tight and even as is the hood line and trunk all the best possible fit. No signs of even the slightest damage or wrinkle in any metal we can see on the car inside the front of the hood behind the grill is excellent on both sides. The trunk still holds the tools under the wood trunk floor and the access locking tool is clipped on the rear drivers side inner quarter. Seems to be the original spare tire and still has the trunk liner over the wooden trunk sub floor. Straight and symmetrical front, rear and on the four corners it appears to us as we look it over. Bumpers with nice chrome along with pristine badges on the hood and trunk along with fabulous trunk handle and solid fit when you close it or the doors and hood. Truly an exceptional example and having the potential of being the best of the best we think you will be very pleased to own this fabulous car. At this time only one rear spat included. Look over the pictures or have an inspection done on the car; we are confident you will be pleased you spent the time, if you are looking for that just right Jaguar.

You probably have seen the video of Amy picking up her Lamborghini Gallardo from her last trip to the states. Although she loves that, her dream car has always been the Audi R8! A week after getting back to the states she tracked down the perfect car and started making plans for a very unique look. We picked the car up from Lamborghini Carolinas and dropped it off the next day at Carbon Wraps (http://on.fb.me/YzQzbs) in Orlando, FL. Steve put in many 3AM nights over the course of a few weeks to get the car looking like a factory job! Every panel was removed and done completely right - HIGHLY recommend them if you're thinking of a wrap. She then finished it off with satin black 20" B18 Modulare Wheels. Amy couldn't be happier with how the car came out! Congrats on buying yourself your 2nd supercar by 22 babe :-) Super proud!

What does Amy do? Check out her company http://Infinite-Prosperity.com/?y

Lingenfelter Performance Engineering (LPE) has turned their LTA concept car into reality by debuting the first production Lingenfelter LTA at the 2012 SEMA Show.

Lingenfelter announces they will build a limited quantity of Lingenfelter LTA vehicles for eager customers to purchase starting this year. Initially developed to evoke the muscle car styling from the past combined with Lingenfelter's latest technologies, the Lingenfelter LTA has been a hit in collector car circles and enthusiast crowds across the country.

"Due to overwhelming response after displaying conceptual versions of the LTA at previous SEMA Shows and other events, Lingenfelter has decided to take the car to production," said Ken Lingenfelter, owner of Lingenfelter Performance Engineering. "As a long-time admirer of the Firebird Super Duty, I initially wanted to build this car to celebrate and improve upon that special brand. After gauging the reactions of interested customers, we learned many enthusiasts share our passion for these eye-catching performance vehicles. And after thousands of inquiries, Lingenfelter determined we had to build limited quantities of the Lingenfelter LTA."

Lingenfelter went on to explain the many differences between their concept LTA and the production version.

"We've taken the time to re-design this car, to re-create factory features and enhance each aspect of the vehicle, from new taillights to a re-designed deck lid and wheels," he explained. "We aren't selling individual parts and components for our customers to create this car on their own; we're delivering a complete, finished vehicle that's been re-done inside and out."

The Lingenfelter LTA begins as a 2010-2013 model year Chevrolet Camaro, which Lingenfelter then enhances with high performance products and body-modifying accessories.

It will be available in three levels to suit customers' tastes, with the Level 3 LTA containing Lingenfelter's impressive 455 cubic inch LS engine that delivers a powerful 655 horses. The Level 3 LTA also features LPE/Kooks Headers with high flow converters, an LPE/CORSA Performance cat-back exhaust, Brembo Brakes, 20x9.5 and 20x11 Honeycomb Wheels with powder coated centers, a custom interior and more. Lingenfelter badges, indicating the vehicle's authenticity as a certified Lingenfelter creation, adorn the interior and exterior.

For more than 34 years, Lingenfelter Performance Engineering has created a matchless heritage of bringing astounding new capabilities to the world's most sought-after sports cars. This legendary record of precision engineering continues today, as the highly skilled Lingenfelter production team continues to target design excellence in engine packages, superchargers and high-performance aftermarket components that refine power, speed and control. Three years after the V12 Vantage Coupe was launched, Aston Martin has unveiled the most powerful version of the Vantage Roadster line-up to date, the V12 Vantage Roadster. Powered by the same naturally-aspirated 6.0-litre V12 as the Coupe and DBS, the new V12 Vantage Roadster puts out 510bhp and 420lb ft, capable of pushing the Roadster to 62mph in 4.5secs - 0.3secs slower than the Coupe. The Roadster weighs in at 1760kg, just 80kg more than the Coupe, and is fitted with a conventional fabric roof. There's carbon fibre trim incorporated into the front splitter and bonnet vents. The front bumper has been revised, along with the boot lid, giving slightly more stability at high-speed, which despite losing the roof, maintains the 190mph top speed. Aston has re-tuned the damper settings, and redesigned rear spring layout at the rear of the car - a set-up which the company says suits the open-top nature of the car. Like the V12 Vantage coupe, the new Roadster features a Sport button, which changes the throttle map, and opens a valve in the exhaust. Available to order now, the new Aston Martin V12 Vantage Roadster is priced at £150,000 in the UK. Octane Magazine July 2012.

With its fine six cylinder engine, fully independent suspension and closed cabin, this 1949 Alfa Romeo 6C 2500 Super Sport promises its next owner fast and comfortable travels to Villa d’Este, Pebble Beach, and on the Mille Miglia. The 6C, after all, won the Mille Miglia in 1937 and the Villa d’Este concours in 1949. No small achievement in either case, and when combined with the car’s storied, Vittorio Jano-designed mechanicals makes for a car that is fast, beautiful, technologically advanced, and historically significant. This particular car is a rare and desirable Super Sport and therefor rides on a shorter 2,700mm wheelbase and has three Weber carburetors on its twin-cam, six-cylinder engine. Owned by a collector for 35 years the Alfa Romeo sits in solid, unrestored condition with most of the bodywork in a state of excellent structural soundness and retains almost all of its rare and expensive trim. On the mechanical side, the original engine was damaged and replaced at some point by another SS engine. The seller indicates that a second damaged engine is included in the sale, though there’s no indication whether this is the original. Photos show the 6C to be in need of a complete restoration with the bodywork in primer and very light surface corrosion on some of the steel surfaces. The good news with a project of this caliber, however, is that the expense of restoration will likely be recouped should the next owner sell. And if they keep the car as we would, they’ll be able to enter the events of their choosing. These are amazing and rare cars and we look forward to seeing it on a rally or concours field soon. For sale at Fantasy Junction.
