Our middle child Abby had the noble distinction of having her first ride as a newborn in our Legacy. I may be off on the date; it was probably 1989 purchase timeframe. Anyway, I can't tell you the number of drive by thumbs up and curiosity from Subbie loyalists. For whatever reason the mice loved to chew on the car's spark plug wires to the tune of at least three pricey replacement sets!

The "Legacy" didn't get worldwide distribution until 1990. Prior to that, the common Subaru wagon was called the "Loyale." There was a brief model overlap between 1990 and 1994 before the Loyale was discontinued and replaced by the Impreza. My family had a couple of Loyales when I was a kid. A white '91 and a light blue '92. However, I do admit that we, and many people we knew, referred to them as "Legacies."
