Equus Bass 770 is a restomod Mustang with ZR1 power.
The Equus Bass 770 has gone viral, and it's not hard to see why. The retro styling of the boutique modern muscle car draws inspiration mainly from the old Ford Mustang fastback, but also the Dodge Challenger, and it's powered by a thoroughly modern supercharged 6.2-liter V8 that makes 640 horsepower, a la Chevrolet's recently departed Corvette ZR1. It all comes together to give the Bass 770 a claimed 0-60 miles-per-hour time of 3.4 seconds and top speed of 200 mph, which makes us wonder why it took a short piece by Thrillist that ended up on the front page of Reddit to make people notice (including us). Apparently, the thing already has been out for almost a year, according to Equus Automotive's Facebook page.
Detroit-based Equus Automotive developed the car for six years to arrive at the product you see here. An aluminum chassis was built for the Bass 770, and its body is made out of aluminum lined with carbon fiber. The combination of strong, lightweight materials is sure to keep body flex to a minimum and, crucially, the weight down on this 3,640-pound muscle car. Unlike muscle cars of yore, the Bass 770 is generously equipped with safety features, such as airbags, and creature comforts that include a leather interior with the ceiling in Alcantara, air-conditioning, GPS, radio with CD and DVD capability, USB port, tire pressure monitoring system and cruise control.
To offset the weight of the big engine up front, the folks at Equus Automotive decided to mount a six-speed dual-clutch manual transmission (yes, a twin-disc manual) at the rear. Michael Qualid of Equus Automotive says, "An automatic transmission could be available in the near future with different engine combinations."
While we haven't driven it (yet), we imagine the handling greatly benefits from the weight distribution afforded by the transaxle layout. That's a good thing when you're drifting a 640-horsepower muscle car - which you can see in a video we included below. But if you want to join in on the action, be ready to pony up at least $253,000 for your own Bass 770.

Callaway Releases C7 Chevrolet Corvette AeroWagon Order Form.
Callaway Cars published renderings of a shooting brake concept based on the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray earlier this year. Now, Callaway has updated its website to include an update to the car’s page, complete with a link to an order form [PDF].
Callaway’s AeroWagon package transform your C7 coupe into a three-door shooting brake, with additional cargo space, a rear hatch, and a totally unique look to the already startlingly fresh Stingray (no option for rear seats, though). It can be added to a base Corvette or to a car with the Z51 performance package. Callaway will also have its own tuned, 610-horsepower version, which the company expects to push the Corvette AeroWagon into the 200-mile-per-hour-plus range of supercar.
The price of the Aerowagon package starts at an additional $15,000 on top of the price of your Corvette, and it comes with a natural carbon-fiber finish. For another $1500, it can be painted to match the original body color.
Orders are being taken now (more details in the press release, below), with production of the AeroWagon beginning in January.

1400hp, 1400kg Koenigsegg One:1 Could Hit 450km/h.
Ever since the first details about the Koenigsegg One:1 emerged late last year, Koenigsegg has remained very tight-lipped around the car. However, thanks to a recent interview the company’s CEO did with Bloomberg Businessweek, additional details about the One:1 have been released.
First and foremost, the Koenigsegg One:1 name obviously arrives from its perfect one-to-one weight and horsepower ratio derived from the 1400hp V8 and the 1,400kg weight. However, this particular news isn’t new. What is new however is that Christian von Koenigsegg says the Koenigsegg One:1’s weight of 1,400kg will include all water, oil and fuels. What’s more, von Koenigsegg includes the weight of the driver in that total figure.
Consequently, the Koenigsegg One:1 is set to become the fastest Koenigsegg ever produced. Based on the Koenigsegg Agera, computer simulations suggest the One:1 could sprint to beyond 450km/h. Finding a place to achieve such a speed however, could prove the real challenge for Koenigsegg.
Additionally, the Koenigsegg One:1 promises to be the world’s fastest car from 0-200km/h, the fastest from 0-300km/h and even the world’s fastest car from a standstill to 400km/h. In terms of the sprint from -400km/h, Koenigsegg engineers believe it can achieved in around 20 seconds. That would make it even faster than this 2005hp Lamborghini Gallardo and more than twice as quick as the standard Bugatti Veyron.
The Swedish automaker hopes to have a running prototype ready by the end of next year and when the Koenigsegg One:1 hits the production line, just six units will be available all of which have already sold. A price tag has yet to be revealed, but von Koenigsegg confirmed it’ll be “substantially higher” than the Koenigsegg Agera S.

The Koenigsegg Agera is powered by an in-house developed 5.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine which produces 940 hp at 6900 rpm and 810 lb·ft of torque at 4000 rpm. Total weight of the engine is only 434 lb thanks to a carbon fiber intake manifold and the aluminum construction. The transmission is a 7-speed dual clutch with paddle shifters. It is the first dual clutch transmission to feature only one input shaft. The second clutch slows down the input shaft during up shifts in order to reduce the time it takes to synchronize the next gear, resulting in faster shift times. Most notably, the transmission weighs only 179 lbs.

The Aston Martin One-77 will feature a full carbon fibre monocoque chassis, a handcrafted aluminium body, and a naturally aspirated 7.3 litre V12 engine with 750 hp. Aston Martin claims that this will be the most powerful naturally aspirated production engine in the world.
