1931 Auburn 8-98A Custom Convertible Cabriolet
PRICE REDUCED! INCLUDES TONS OF SPARES! FINEST AVAILABLE!
Beautifully restored 1931 Auburn 8-98A Custom Convertible Cabriolet with rumble seat, wood artillery wheels and rear mount spare.
Our client purchased this lovely Auburn from Charles G. Haynes in May of 2016. Haynes, in turn, acquired the vehicle from Desmond G. Fitzgerald of Greenwich CT on December 4, 1999. Over the course of ownerships, the engine and drivetrain were thoroughy rebuilt and all cosmetics including paint, chrome and interior fully restored. Interior work was performed in 2016 by Connors Motor Cars in PA, using documents from the ACD Museum archives to ensure the most accurate patterns; this work alone totaled $14,000!
VIN number 5780
Frame number 4780
Engine number gu36818
In an effort to confirm the Auburn's lineage, the current owner posted an inquiry on the ACD Forum. A response from noted Auburn historian Randy Ema stated as follows: "When Wally Rank of Wisconsin owned the car he reported to me as sn5780 gu36818."
Included in purchase are a set of five unrestored wire wheels, brakes and hubs.
The Auburn runs and drives superbly, shows like a fresh restoration and represents one of the finest available 8-98A Cabriolets avaiable in today's market!
