Scary to think this can just happen unexpectedly on the highway. What would cause a hole like this?

Bad news everybody, if your town has underground water mains (spoiler alert, it does) this could happen to your city streets too. Even a small leak left for too long will erode out a serious amount of dirt. Just a matter of time really.

Auto aficionado aint know nothin. There aint no roads fallin in like this in my hood

water manes burst under the road and washout all the dirt then it just waits for someone unfortunate to drive over and collapses

So why doesn't the city just fix a pipe when they find out it's leaking, seeing as it can lead to such a serious issue if left unattended?
