The Cahier Archive is the only photo collection covering the history of the Formula One Championship (and Sports Car Championship) to have remained in the hands of its original authors; the 15 000 pictures currently available on this website are part of a total of around 400 000 originals comprising our archive.

Two photographers have built this archive: Bernard Cahier and his son Paul-Henri, giving the collection two very different styles. Bernard was a reporter, and he had the gift to make people truly live events through his pictures. Paul-Henri on the other hand, has always leaned towards an artistic approach of photography. The common point of their photos though, is that they always go beyond the illustrative dimension.

Our archive however, isn’t only about pictures. Many other items such as letters, racing plates, pins, stickers, and posters were gathered throughout the years, making the Cahier Archive a true testimony to racing and to the lost world of Gentlemen Drivers.
