Beyond seeing what improvements each mod does, a dynamometer will allow for fine tuning that will allow you to ensure your project-car is operating at 100% max power and efficiency. A great investment for any weekend warrior with an extra $50k+ sitting around

The dyno is only half the story. You can't just slap parts on and go. Many parts like turbos, exhausts, and upgraded ECUs need to be TUNED for optimal performance. You also need to get yourself some tuning software and some skill to really make use of a machine like this.

I share your enthusiasm for the practicality of a Dyno, Dave, but there are much simpler ways to get your rig onto one of these than dropping an entire year's hard earned wages. Call around your local shops and dealers, with any luck you'll be able to get the wheels spinning for under a hundred bucks. Unless you plan on running 500+ tests in the near future, I'd recommend saving those pennies for a few other tools in the toolbox instead...

Don't be too harsh on the guy, this is the internet, and a board of "dream" cars and tools. Having a dyno is like having one of those Margaritaville machines: sure you don't use it every day, but when you do use it, there's nothing like having it!
