New See Through Michelin Tire With No Value Stems and No Air!

The U.S. Military is seemingly always looking for a better technology, a better way for our troops. Announcing a new airless tire. I got a hold of some actual pictures in a South Carolina plant.

Wow, no value stem, no air, and I can see through it
They have been testing these for several years now. Resilient Tech was developing them for the military application.

Just think of the impact on existing technology:

A. no more air valves…

B. no more air compressors at gas stations…

C. no more repair kits…

D. no more flats…

This design reminds me of the 1959 Movie featuring the Ben Hur Chariot

Yes, those are ‘spoke’ like connections to the inner part of the tire from the outside tread ‘wrap!’

This picture shows how odd the tire appears with virtually no rubber in motion over a bump… wonder how the ride feels?

The bad news for law enforcement is that spike strips will not work on these.

This design has been around for years. I'm still waiting to see the sticker price when they actually reach the market

Goodluck warming up your tires with these things. You'll burn right down to the spokes in no time

I saw a whole documentary on this a few years back. i think it was on discovery, future cars or something like that. I guess the eventual plan is to have enough shock absorption in the wheel to not need a conventional suspension kit on the chassis!

Still pretty cool though

Yeah, that's definitely one thing I'd worry about with these is tread life. I'd imagine things get very shaky when you wear down half of the tread on these
