A Packard for “The Squire”: In his day, Gene Sarazen, a.k.a “The Squire”, was as well known as Tiger Woods is today as befits a player who won all the major championships in his lifetime, the U.S. Open, PGA Championship, the Masters and the British Open. With that fame and fortune came this perk, a Dietrich-bodied Ninth Series 1932 Packard 906 Custom Twin Six convertible sedan. See another photo and learn more @ http://theoldmotor.com/?p=104964

The Shakespeare Bugatti Collection Returns Home to France, 1964:

The New York Times printed a story in their Collectible Cars section that was first covered in Automobile Quarterly Magazine about the sale of the John W. Shakespeare collection of rare Bugattis and it’s return home to France. After extended negotiations by Hugh Conway and Bob Shaw, the cars were sold to Fritz Schlumpf and shipped to France to join the Schlumpf Collection.

We think that this remains as one of the great stories of car collecting. You can view the very interesting slide show at the N.Y. Times section thru a link @ http://theoldmotor.com/?p=95732

An exhibition of some truly remarkable automobiles is currently in progress at The Frist Center for Visual Arts in Nashville, Tennessee and runs until September 15, 2013. A must see for lovers of Art Deco and “French Curve” design, visitors unfamiliar with those genres will likely be even more impressed by the striking style of these cars. Superb lighting shows them off to their best advantage as seen in these images courtesy of Bruce Sweetman.
