M3 fans out there need to check out the current issue of Octane magazine. The March 2013 issue covers the gamut of BMW M3 models starting with first gen with funky spoiler and box flares, the perfect Bavarian hot rod!

A great issue. Octane is one of those essential reads and the pics aren't bad either.

I find myself torn on this subject. As a past owner of several generations of M3s, its hard to say which year is truly the best. Admittedly, the late 80's models were simple and felt like there was nothing between you and the asphalt, but with a 4.0 L S65 V8 under the hood of my '08, its hard to look back at the stock 190hp from the early years.

While the newer models have gotten far more powerful, the E30 is the lightest, and from what I've heard, the most fun to toss around the track.

My Dad's christmas gift this year was an Octane subscription; I agree great pics.
