Production started on the "Towne Top", (a removable convertible hardtop made by Dory Development Corp.) on April 24, 1964, right after the car's April 17 introduction. Priced at $28, the Towne Tops were offered in two colors, Raven Black and Sand Beige, with an optional dome light. It's unknown how many were produced, but serial numbering began at #1000.

Dory Development Corporation of Salem, New York not only made these limited-production hardtops for Mustang but a similar version for Corvair convertibles as well.
