Japanese tuning firm, Tommy Kaira, has released a modified Toyota Prius that actually looks like it would be fun to drive. Unfortunately, it appears that the modifications are mostly visual, so if you were dreaming of a faster gas sipper, dream on.

The pimped-out Prius certainly looks meaner, with a front lip spoiler, larger rims and tires, and lower ride height. (Does anyone else have déjà vu?) Tommy Kaira's website also shows a "high performance exhaust system" for the Prius, but you'll need a Japanese translator to get much more information. The description of the product uses the words "sporty" and "eco" in close proximity, which is usually a good thing.

Prices for the full conversion are not yet available, but if you've been searching for a hybrid that will make the average Prius owner cringe, stay tuned.

Very well cared for restored and modified 1994 lexus GS300 with 183,000 miles on it. The car is mechanically sound and perfect. Absolutely all preventative maintenance has been done including new spark plugs and wires, the changing and flushing of all fluids, a new radiator, new brake pads, new rotors, new lower ball joints, sway bar links etc. The car starts up every time. Air conditioning runs ice cold. Heat is nice and toasty.

Now for the fun stuff...

The body is straight as an arrow with no dings or dents. This GS has a custom silver flake paint job and a vis cyber body kit (the admiration knockoff kit for those in the know) which is in perfect condition. The rear bumper is a real deal jdm inspection bumper. Very rare and cool if you know what these go for. All body panels and kit pieces have no scratches dings or dents. This car has a great custom exhaust which is music to the ears of any car enthusiast. The rear mufflers are tasteful obx cans which bring out the beauty of the 2jz without being distasteful. If you know anything about the Toyota Supra, then you know the 2jz in it just sounds so perfect. The front bumper has been customized with led fog lights on the lower vents and custom fiber glass molded 2012 Camry fog lights (yellow lens). The car has been lowered on megan ez coilovers to sit just right on staggered 20 inch Weds 107d's wheels. The wheels are 20 x 9 in the front and 20 x 10 in the rear. The wheels retail for $1000 a rim and are almost worth buying this car just for the wheels themselves. The Federal formoza tires were purchased in June 2013 and have about 2,000 miles on them. I would estimate about 3/4 of the life of the tread still intact.

The interior is stock minus a wonderful pioneer double din with bluetooth/usb and aux ports. Clean for a 1994 but definitely needs some tlc to take this car to the next level. The leather is has dried up a bit and there are small areas where the stitching has seperated. However there are no rips or tears. This cars needs an interior overhaul to take it to show level quality. Unfortunately, I am just not the person to do it. I have just ran out of inspiration with this car and have since moved on to a euro project. With over $12,000 invested I am just looking to recuperate some of my investment and fund my next project. This car has been up on ebay a few times however I pulled the plug because I couldn't just let it go for the price it would have went for. This time it is for real, I am saying goodbye to this car once and for all no matter what and my loss will definitely be your gain.

In this month's Back Bumper Section, we are going to try our best to make sure the back bumper doesn't fall off altogether, as we feature an aggressive hopper from the Maniacos Car Club. We are proud to bring you Johnny Rodriguez' single-pump hopper, an '83 Chevy Malibu Wagon, that hits for over 75 inches! The road for this hopper has been a long one, and you can be sure that it has seen its share of ups and downs (no pun intended) along the way.

The wagon was purchased by Johnny's older brother as a project car back in '99, but it ended up just collecting dust in the backyard. After seeing the lonely car sit for a few years, Johnny purchased the wagon from his brother, and was determined to make something out of it. Unfortunately, the timing wasn't right for Johnny to begin work on the Chevy, so the wagon was moved from one backyard to another, resting in his backyard until '05. That year, Johnny decided to rebuild the wagon, and take it to the streets!

The '83 wagon was delivered to Low Life Hydraulics, located in Inglewood, CA. The team at Low Life hydraulics took the stock frame and fully reinforced it, looking to better enable the car to withstand the gas hopping abuse, asphalt slamming, and back bumper checking that it would surely endure. The body and frame were painted to match, while Curly from Paramount, CA added the final touch of adding custom pinstripping and Silver leafing. Now that the car was fortified, it was ready to receive its hydraulics.

Johnny wanted a single pump set up, as he needed something that could compete with the big boys out on the street. The single pump set-up he installed includes 6-inch cylinders in the front, and 22-inch cylinders in the rear, with 3 1/2 ton springs all around, which are accompanied by 3 Adex Dumps, powered by eight batteries. A four-switch rig was also installed to give Johnny a convenient and effective way to control the car's movements. The wagon was finished in '09, and was ready to battle it out at the Majestic's Picnic on New Year's Day, where it took home second place. Always eager to gas hop, Johnny and the wagon have been battling and taking names out on the streets without any problems!

Johnny would like to extend his thanks to his family, the Maniacos Car Club, as well as Rick and Challo, for being his constant support system throughout the years. This hopper is a formidable opponent, so if you are ready to go head-to-head with Johnny's '83 Chevy Malibu Wagon, make sure you are ready to bring some up & downs!

If you have a hydraulics setup that hits back bumper or is making you "go for broke," email some images along with basic information to: saul.vargas@sorc.com
