Nice pic. But what are the four hood flaps for?

@ CC it does look hood flaps! However this hood folds to open. It has 2 pieces each side. What you are looking at is the hood side folded open with side vents open. Most cars of this period have manual vents you could open, to allow more air in the engine compartment, in case of a hot day or strenuous driving.
